A $5 million contribution from the Rudd Labor Government towards Australian migration agents will support more more visitors to Australia.
The minister for immigration was in Perth today with Perth Immigration Lawyers to announce the funding, which will go towards encouraging skilled migrants to move to Australia.
A total of 140 jobs will be created as part of this program, including extra staff to help new migrants settle in Australia.
The funds will also go towards incorporating community recreation and sporting facilities, as well as commercial, administrative, training and other activities that will benefit the community.
The grant will also help leverage commercial development, including the expansion of retail outlets and associated industries.
Today’s announcement builds on Federal Labor’s pledge to support strong, prosperous local communities.
Federal Labor is serious about investing in regional and local communities and helping them to meet future challenges and opportunities.
The funds for the project are from the latest round of the Regional Development Australia Fund. Funding for this project is already included in the budget.
